Deep Dive Week is an annual opportunity for our team to step away from our usual work rhythms and commitments, to individually and in small clusters, explore questions, ideas, and themes that pique our interest, connect to our communities, and are rooted in curiosity. Through conversations, creative exploration, reading, listening, engaging, and reflection, we follow different threads and allow ourselves to sit with uncertainty, complexity, and possibility. Often what comes of it is entwined with the heart of what we do, but don't always have space in our everyday work.

This year we explored the connections between technology and people, between imagination and action, and between the challenges we are navigating today and the futures we want to help shape. At The Engine Room, we know meaningful change often begins with asking better questions. DDW gave us the opportunity to challenge assumptions, make new connections, and think beyond the immediate, creating space for ideas that may shape how we approach our work going forward. Or simply allow us to expand and be curious in ways that ready us for the future.

This annual issue of our zine will give you a glimpse into our explorations. They are not polished or final outputs. They are the still slightly messy expressions of where we each were - and where our clusters were - by week's end. We appreciate the opportunity to let go of the pressures of perfection and what's finished and embrace the possibilities and the starting places.
